Trump's return could spell trouble for Prince Harry

With Donald Trump re-elected to the White House, Prince Harry has his confidential immigration files at risk of public exposure.

Trump’s stance on the Duke of Sussex has been clear: he “wouldn’t protect” Harry, whom he accused of “betraying the Queen.”

Now, a years-long push by the conservative think tank, the Heritage Foundation, to unseal Harry’s records might gain traction with the incoming administration.

The Heritage Foundation’s interest in Harry’s files traces back to revelations in his 2023 memoir, where he admitted to past drug use—an admission that could have affected his U.S. visa eligibility.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS), however, has so far denied requests to disclose the records, citing privacy concerns. Yet, Nile Gardiner, director of the foundation’s Margaret Thatcher Center for Freedom, believes the tide is turning. “There’s a strong possibility,” Gardiner told Daily Mail, hinting that Trump’s administration might support releasing the documents in the “public interest.”

For now, a recent ruling has kept Harry’s records private, but Gardiner is confident that with Trump’s support, a new Homeland Security Secretary could order a review of the case. Gardiner argued that releasing the records would reinforce the rule of law, stating, “If Harry has nothing to hide, he should support the release.”

The saga adds fuel to an ongoing feud between Trump and Harry, dating back to 2016, when Trump called Meghan Markle “nasty” after she criticized him as “divisive.”

Earlier this year, Trump reaffirmed his stance, saying he wouldn’t protect Harry and would take “appropriate action” if evidence of dishonesty in Harry’s application surfaced.

As pressure builds, all eyes are on the potential showdown between Trump’s administration and the Duke of Sussex over the transparency of immigration records in the coming year.
