Trump vows to end Russia-Ukraine war in 24hrs as US President
During a CNN town hall event in New Hampshire, former President of the United States, Donald Trump, declared that he could end the Russo-Ukrainian War within 24 hours if he was still the President of the US.
Trump revealed that he would hold negotiations with Russian President, Vladimirovich Putin, and Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky, to bring an end to the long-standing conflict. Despite acknowledging the strengths of both leaders and their countries, Trump remained confident in his ability to bring about peace.
Since the start of the Russo-Ukrainian War in 2014, the conflict has resulted in tens of thousands of deaths and caused the largest refugee crisis in Europe since World War II. Russia escalated the war on February 24, 2022, by invading and occupying parts of Ukraine.
Although Trump acknowledged Putin’s mistake in invading Ukraine, he believes Putin would not have gone ahead with the invasion if he were the President of the US. As a frontrunner for the Republican Party’s nominee in the 2024 US presidential election, Trump emphasized his desire to end the war and put an end to the suffering of both Russian and Ukrainian citizens. He stated that the power of the presidency would enable him to achieve this objective within 24 hours.
However, the former Governor of New Jersey, James Christie, criticized Trump for refusing to declare his support for Ukraine to win the war. Christie took to his official Twitter handle to express his disapproval of Trump’s stance, accusing him of being Putin’s puppet. According to Christie, Trump’s proposal to end the war in 24 hours was ridiculous, and he suspected that Trump would attempt to achieve this by handing over Ukraine to Putin and Russia.
