TopNaija’s Premier League Predictions For The Weekend

The nerve racking league returns once more for intensity filled premier league weekend that as always is expected to give viewers the shock, tales to tell and banters to share. The question of who wins, who looses and who ends up leaving with just a point, returns.

Manchester United fans will be left frantic over proceedings and will be hoping the Red Devils can salvage 3 points against West Ham United to ease the pressure off as the chasing pack of Brighton, Liverpool, Tottenham come to snatch the fourth spot from them.

Chelsea on the other hand will be hoping for a positive outcome and so will interim manager, Frank Lampard, so the Blues can dispel whatever relegation noise is starting to creep up in the air.

Manchester City will want to continue being the boogey team in the premier league as Leeds United stand at their mercy this weekend as they too have a fight on their hands; to avoid relegation, the reversal of Manchester City’s ambitions this season.

Arsenal still remain the anxiety filled team who are currently under pressure to keep up appearances of being in a title challenge again the so-called babayaga of the premier league.

So what do we think of this premier league weekend? What are our predictions?

TopNaija’s Premier League Predictions For The Weekend

Saturday 6th May

Bournemouth15:00Chelsea, will kick-start the hostilities for the afternoon as Frank Lampard will desperately want to set the Blues for positive things after so many negatives upon his return.

Bournemouth are a resurgent force and they are very much a tough side at home, especially when they are somehow still technically in a relegation battle. They are currently on the same points with Chelsea and stand a chance of getting above them should they manage 3 points off the Blues.

However we predict this game to be Frank Lampard’s first positive. His team will secure the former midfielder’s first draw on return to Chelsea in a 1-1 draw if our predictions are right.

Manchester City15:00Leeds United, looks to be a routine win for the Cityzens as Pep Guardiola’s side could force out a high scoring 5-1 result.

Tottenham Hotspur15:00Crystal Palace, a London derby that Spurs might want to take seriously now seeing how Palace are reformed under Roy Hodgson. From staging a 3-3 comeback a week ago against Liverpool to losing seconds after, we predict a 1-4 result for Crystal Palace against Tottenham.

Wolverhampton Wanderers15:00Aston Villa, Villa may have suffered a narrow 1-0 loss to Manchester United recently but Unai Emery’s side are cooking this season and Wolves might be a slaughter meat as a result. We predict a 1-3 victory for Aston Villa, but it is not out of line to witness a tense game from this fixture however to see Wolves stage a 3-3 draw.

It’s highly unlikely though that goalkeeper Emi Martinez will want to concede that many goals to Wolverhampton.

Liverpool17:30Brentford, the Reds of Anfield may want to feel like they are coming back to consistency but if anything from the recent games are to be believed, Liverpool are one bad luck away from returning to previous form, and this game might be it.

Brentford could ruin the Reds’ evening by forcing out a 2-2 draw to dampen the mood at Anfield.

TopNaija’s Premier League Predictions For The Weekend

Sunday 7th May

Newcastle United16:30Arsenal, the chase for a top 4 finish and the race for a premier league title for both teams. They each have a lot to lose, and Arsenal has more.

Can the Gunners secure a win against the Magpies to continue the pressure on Manchester City? We see this game as the fixture where they will crumble and fall to a 2-0 defeat at Saint James Park.

West Ham United19:00Manchester United, this game has everything hinging on for Manchester United, and any result that doesn’t yield 3 points will put the Red Devils under pressure. West Ham on the other hand were just bad lucks away from stealing points from the recent games they have had against top 6 sides.

Manchester United game could be their lucky day, and we see the Hammers stealing all 3 points at home in a 2-1 win.

Monday 8th May

TopNaija’s Premier League Predictions For The Weekend

Fulham15:00Leicester City, will continue the premier league weekend conversation on  Monday afternoon which is quite awkward.

Fulham will want to ruin things for a Leicester looking to avoid relegation and they could do that by stealing all 3 points in a 2-1win or lose it to a 2-3 defeat.

Brighton and Hove Albion17:30Everton,  will get things more interesting as Everton are looking at a season in the Championship should they continue to drop points. We see Everton pulling a shock on Brighton to carve out a 0-1 result.

Nottingham Forest20:00Southampton, Southampton continually languishes in the last spot as the possibility of relegation faces them.

However, we predict a 1-3 result for the Saints, a result they were oddly denied against Arsenal some weeks ago.

We predict Manchester City to win the premier league weekend and Arsenal to be the bigger loser of the weekend.
