Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief Of Staff to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Former Speaker of the House of Representatives, has officially resigned from his position as lawmaker in order to focus on his new role as the Chief of Staff to the President.

Details Of Tinubu’s Meeting With Jonathan Emerge

The Speaker of the House read aloud Gbajabiamila’s letter of resignation during a session on the floor of the House.

It was anticipated that Gbajabiamila would resign to fully dedicate himself to the responsibilities awaiting him in the new government.

Concerns had arisen regarding how he would effectively handle both roles, considering that the former Speaker had just been inaugurated alongside his fellow lawmakers on Tuesday and had also participated in voting for the House leadership.

The Member representing Surulere 1 has now tendered his resignation, necessitating the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct a fresh election to fill the vacant position.

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abass declared the Surulere 1 Constituency seat vacant.
