Tinubu signs Supplementary Bill to Law

Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has signed the 2023 supplementary budget into law.

The former Lagos State governor signed the bill at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Wednesday.

In a related news, President Bola Tinubu has assured the National Population Commission, (NPC) of the Federal Government’s intention to support efforts to conduct the planned census of the country.

He gave the assurance at the launch of the National Geospatial Data Repository, Digital CRVS System and inauguration of the National Coordination Committee for CRVS on Wednesday at the Presidential Villa Abuja shortly before signing the supplementary bill into law.

The previous administration of Muhammadu Buhari had released the sum of N200 billion to the Population Commission to conduct a national census before his tenure had elapsed earlier in May 2023.

While a large chunk of the funds were deployed by the agency in the preliminary stages of the census collation, the Federal Government had to postpone the exercise owing to other exigencies such as the general elections and certain constraints that came up.
