TikTok partners DistroKid to speed up artist account creation
Short-form video hosting service, TikTok has partnered with music distribution service DistroKid to fast-track the creation of artist accounts, reducing the registration process from weeks to hours for DistroKid members.
DistroKid members, who pay an annual subscription fee of $22.99, can now create their official TikTok Artist Accounts within hours.
This partnership significantly shortens the usual 30-day document processing period for artists applying for this feature. “It’s now faster than ever for any artist to create their official TikTok Artist Account directly through DistroKid,” said Phil Bauer, President of DistroKid.
“Building on our long history of collaboration, DistroKid members now have unique access to tools and features for promoting their music on TikTok’s leading discovery platform.”

TikTok, owned by ByteDance, introduced the Artist Account feature last year, allowing musicians to showcase new music, their music catalogue, and behind-the-scenes footage.
In October, ByteDance partnered with DistroKid to enable independent artists to directly make their songs available on TikTok Music and the video editing app CapCut.
While TikTok and DistroKid introduced the Artist Account, both have maintained a long-term partnership, ByteDance also runs a rival music distribution service called SoundOn, which launched in 2022.
