Tijani Babangida's brother dies: Tragic accident

In a devastating turn of events, Tijani Babangida, the former forward of Nigeria’s Super Eagles, was involved in a fatal car accident on Thursday, resulting in the untimely demise of his younger brother, Ibrahim Babangida.

Tijani Babangida, renowned for his contributions to Nigerian football, notably as a member of the Atlanta 1996 Olympic team that clinched the gold medal, currently serves as the President of the Professional Footballers Association of Nigeria (PFAN).

The distressing news was relayed by Emmanuel Babayaro, General Secretary of PFAN, who issued a statement informing the public about the tragic incident.

“Comrades! Let us be in prayers for our president, Tijani Babangida, who just had a ghastly motor accident along the Kaduna-Zaria Road,” Babayaro expressed.

He further disclosed the grim reality of the accident, stating, “Ibrahim Babangida, his younger brother, died on the spot from the accident while Mr. President (Babangida) and his family were taken to the hospital.”

Babayaro concluded with a heartfelt plea, “May the soul of Ibrahim Babangida Rest In Peace with God, amen.”

The Nigerian football community mourns the loss of Ibrahim Babangida and stands in solidarity with Tijani Babangida and his family during this profoundly difficult time.
