In a recent development, Emeka Amadi, the clerk of the Rivers State House of Assembly, has officially disassociated himself from the faction supporting Governor Sim Fubara within the Assembly.

Amadi adamantly affirmed that Martin Amaewhule remains the legitimate Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, dismissing any claims suggesting otherwise.

Furthermore, Amadi clarified that three members of the assembly aligned with Fubara—Hon. Victor Oko Jumbo, Hon. Sokari Goodboy Sokari, and Hon. Adolphus Orubimie Timothy—were suspended on October 30, 2023. Consequently, they lack the authority to assert themselves as officers of the House.

Despite this assertion, on Thursday, certain lawmakers purportedly appointed Jumbo as the new Speaker of the Assembly, indicating a potential escalation in the ongoing power struggle within the state’s legislative body.
