Super Falcons star Ashleigh Plumptre falls victim of Identity theft
Being a celebrity or a well known athlete has its merits and of course downsides, and Super Falcons star, Ashleigh Plumptre sees the downside of it as her identity has fallen prey to scammers on Facebook.
The Al-Ittihad ladies player recently posted on her Instagram page alerting fans to a fake account on Facebook that was created under her name and used to carry out scams under the guise of having ties to Plumptre’s former club, Leicester City.
The Facebook page does not run itself as a parody page nor a fan account but impersonates Ashleigh Plumptre to convince its followers of being ran by the Super Falcons star herself.

This is not the first time however that the player is pointing this out to fans and the public, with Plumptre once going public on Instagram, urging her followers to report the page. However, the Facebook page still went strong, tricking unsuspecting public by posing as the former Leicester City Women’s star.
Eagle eyed followers of the Facebook page have reportedly noted some inconsistencies regarding the page’s social media engagement. Aside promising deals and sponsorship to its followers, the account is often times known to make grammatical or typographical errors that in no way mimics how Ashleigh Plumptre operates her Instagram or Twitter accounts.
This is calling on the attention of unsuspecting followers of the page or Facebook users to act and discredit the account before anyone else falls victim to the ‘confidence scam’.
