His application comes amidst ongoing deliberations by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), who remain intent on bringing in a foreign manager to lead the team despite Augustine Eguavoen’s successful qualification of Nigeria for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

Jonathan Hill, who recently parted ways with Rotherham United as an assistant coach, spoke passionately about his vision for Nigerian football in an exclusive interview with Sports Boom.

“This is a role I very much fancy because of its demanding nature and the push to deliver top results,” Hill said. “I’ve always known Nigerian players to be athletic, technical, and full of energy. There’s a great talent pool here, and I believe in nurturing young players who fit the team’s philosophy.”
