The humiliation Ten Hag put Ronaldo through
Ronaldo had to save himself from Erik ten Hag with the Piers Morgan interview.
It all makes sense now as reports come to light on the animosity that trailed the relationship of former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag and Portugal icon Cristiano Ronaldo.
Prior to his exit from Old Trafford, the 5-time Ballon d’Or winner took to the media spotlight in an interview with Piers Morgan that riled the internet space. The interview though not as controversial as the criticisms that came after it, made it appear, Cristiano Ronaldo gave a detailed expose of what was going down behind the scenes at Manchester United.
However, with recent statements coming courtesy of ESPN and Fabrizio Romano’s social media platform, it appears the Portugal international was even coy about a lot of things that had happened at the club.

Ronaldo makes rare admission about his envy of Messi
According to the Italian journalist, during the height of Ronaldo’s feud with Erik ten Hag, the former Real Madrid player suffered a great deal of humiliation at Manchester United.
Romano via his social media page, revealed that Cristiano Ronaldo had been ordered to train away from the first team by Erik ten Hag, with the 5-time Ballon d’Or winner refused access to the dressing room.
The report goes further to stress that Ronaldo could not enter the dressing room even to retrieve a pair of his trainers by a club staff, according to Sports outlet ESPN.
The stand-off could only be resolved when Ronaldo was rendered assistance by an academy player in retrieving his trainers from the dressing room.
A quote from the report states;
“The stand-off only ended when Ronaldo enlisted an academy player to go into the dressing room for him, with a number of senior players viewing the blanket ban as an unnecessary humiliation.”
The animosity prior to Ronaldo’s suspension from the dressing room seems to have been fueled by Ronaldo’s refusal to come on as a 3-minute substitute against Tottenham Hotspur in 2022.
It was well documented that Erik ten Hag did not take too kindly to Ronaldo’s reaction, leading to a catalyst of issues that forced Ronaldo from the club.
According to sources of ESPN, many within the club felt Ronaldo had erred in his reaction but also think Erik ten Hag had taken the punishment farther than he needed to.
