"The GOAT debate is just about bias" -- Ronaldo

5-time Ballon d’Or winner and Al-Nassr star, Cristiano Ronaldo has finally broken his silence about the GOAT debate that has eternally pit him against Argentina icon, Lionel Messi.

Addressing the heated GOAT debate that has football fans divided for years, Cristiano Ronaldo believes winning the World Cup changes nothing in the eyes of rival fans specifically due to their biases. According to the former Real Madrid star, him winning the World Cup or Messi actually winning it in Qatar has done nothing to settle who people believe is the Greatest Of All Time.

Lionel Messi in 2022 famously added the elusive trophy to his glittering career in Qatar when Argentina fought out a 3-3 victory over France in the final, however Cristiano Ronaldo remains unfazed and realistic, admitting the GOAT argument is nothing more than fans’ bias for the two of them showing off in these debates.

Ronaldo said:

“Even if I win the World Cup, the debate will continue. Some people like blondes, some like brunettes,” Ronaldo mused, highlighting the subjective nature of the discussion. He emphasized that his legacy is already cemented by his consistent performance over the years, not just by a single tournament victory.

The Portugal captain even recently clarified that his rivalry with Messi has ended.

Since their departures from European football—Ronaldo to Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia and Messi to Inter Miami—the GOAT debate has only intensified. However, Ronaldo’s latest comments suggest that, for him, true greatness is about longevity and consistency, not just a World Cup trophy.
