The Contract Means A Lot To Mason Mount -- Graham Potter

Graham Potter, the manager of Brighton and Hove Albion, has opened up about the contract situation of midfielder Mason Mount at Chelsea. The 22-year-old midfielder is set to leave the club this summer transfer window, after talks between his representatives and the club hit a wall over a contract extension.

Mason Mount, who has less than 18 months remaining on his current contract, has expressed his desire to remain at the club, but the situation is complicated, according to Potter. Speaking ahead of Chelsea’s Premier League tie against Leicester City, Potter acknowledged that he has spoken with Mount several times about life in general.

The former Swansea City manager also expressed his admiration for the player, calling him a fantastic person. He added, however, that the contract situation is an important one for the player and his family, and that it is important for him to make the right choice.

Potter stated, “It is between the club and Mason. I have spoken to him several times about life in general. My feelings for Mason are clear and I think he is a fantastic person. But sometimes, these things happen. It is complicated there and it is best I speak a little about it.”

He also went on to say, “I am not naive and I know it is an important contract for him. These things have to be right for him and his family and it is important he makes the right choice for him.”

Mount has been an important player for Chelsea this season, making 36 appearances in all competitions, scoring six goals and providing six assists. He has also been a regular for the England national team, earning 20 caps so far.

Chelsea will be hoping to secure a victory in their upcoming Premier League match against Leicester City, as they continue to push for a top-four finish.
