The Cat’s Out of the Bag: Ronaldo Runs to Arabia
After attempts to play coy with the move to Saudi Arabia, Friday night was all the confirmation the world needed that the talks linking Cristiano Ronaldo with Al-Nassr were not at all farfetched as the Portugal legend and 5 time golden ball winner becomes the club’s new number 7.
To a lot of football fans and Cristiano Ronaldo admirers, the move came as quite the shock considering reports that the former Manchester United player still wanted to keep the European fire burning in his quest to play at the top level in Europe.
Al Nassr explained the decision to sign former Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo on Friday.
After his agreement with Manchester United was ended in November, Ronaldo was a free agent for just over a month.
The Saudi Arabian League and upcoming generations of Saudi boys and girls will be inspired by the signing of Portugal captain Ronaldo, according to Al Nassr.
In a statement via its official Instagram account on Friday, Al Nassr said: “This is a signing that will not only inspire our club to achieve even greater success but inspire our league, our nation and future generations, boys and girls, to be the best version of themselves.
“Welcome Cristiano to your new home Al Nassr.”
Ronaldo’s deal with Al Nassr will run until 2025.
