Super Eagles face hiccup with Troost-Ekong

Super Eagles are set to engage in their last match of the group stage tonight versus Guinea Bissau, however they face a hiccup with team captain, William Troost-Ekong who is reported to have picked an injury after the clash against Cote d’Ivoire last weekend.

It is speculated that the Super Eagles defender could be absent from the crucial Monday evening tie following a reported hamstring strain.

Troost-Ekong is believed to have sustained the hamstring hiccup in the first half of the 1-0 win against the host, with the captain choosing to play on with the pain.

The former Watford and Udinese player was instrumental in securing the win for the West African side, converting the spot kick won by Africa’s Player of the Year, Victor Osimhen.

With the 30-year-old reportedly being ruled out of the Monday clash with the Djurtus of Guinea-Bissau, the Super Eagles face a minor hiccup ahead of the game.

The extent of the injury is yet to be determined as the Centre-Back is expected to undergo a scan ahead of a potential qualification into the next round of the tournamnet, or an early exit depending on the result versus Guinea.

So far, the Nigeria team has suffered injuries to its key players with Left-Back, Zaidu Sanusi being one of the names in the list that could miss the encounter against Guinea-Bissau.
