Graeme Souness blasts Bruno Fernandes "Still not fit for Manchester United Captaincy!"

Graeme Souness is still not sold on the Bruno Fernandes as Manchester United captain’s story as the Liverpool legend rips into the Portugal international a new one.

In a scathing critique, Graeme Souness has once again taken aim at Bruno Fernandes, questioning the Manchester United captain’s leadership abilities and suitability for the role.

Souness, who has previously voiced his concerns about Fernandes’ conduct, doubled down on his stance during a recent appearance on the William Hill podcast, “Three Up Front,” as quoted by The Mirror. He argued that Fernandes’ behavior is not conducive to the demands of modern football.

“When you look at leaders in the modern game, one example is at Manchester United, which is one of the biggest institutions in world football,” Souness began. “The club captain is Bruno Fernandes. When they were 3-0 down against Liverpool a couple of seasons ago, he just threw the towel in… he’s the captain! If anything, he should still be contributing, running around with enthusiasm and helping his teammates.”

Graeme Souness didn’t hold back, asserting that Fernandes lacks the necessary attitude to inspire his team during challenging moments. “I don’t think Fernandes can change that aspect of himself – it’s part of him. When he’s shrugging his shoulders and throwing his arms around, that’s just him.”

The ex-Liverpool player and manager is famously known for his unapologetic opinions pertaining to his criticisms on players. Most famous was Graeme Souness’ famed jabs at Paul Pogba during his time at Old Trafford.
