Rio Ferdinand’s dig: Bukayo Saka finally ‘reacts’
When you are good at some thing, never do it with the intentions of proving a point to the critics.
Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka has seemingly responded to criticism from former Manchester United and England defender Rio Ferdinand after the latter’s dig claimed Saka wasn’t a world beater.
Following a stunning display in Arsenal’s 4-1 victory over Newcastle United in the Premier League, Rio Ferdinand’s statement came back biting and Bukayo Saka had some questions to answer.
Ferdinand’s remarks sparked debate among Arsenal fans after he suggested that Saka has yet to achieve world-class status, citing his lack of Champions League performances in crucial stages.
However, Saka’s performance on Saturday evening showcased his undeniable talent, as he scored a remarkable solo goal during Arsenal’s historic win over Newcastle United.
Following the match, Saka was interviewed by TNT Sports reporter Jules Breach, who appeared to reference Ferdinand’s comments when praising Saka’s goal, labeling it as “world-class.”
In response, Saka remained diplomatic, stating,
“No comment. I am happy with another goal today and more importantly happy to win. I am working hard every day and giving my best.”
He further attributed his success to his teammates’ support and emphasized Arsenal’s collective effort in finding their rhythm offensively.
Meanwhile, Saka’s teammate Kai Havertz expressed the team’s satisfaction with the victory, highlighting the importance of securing three points, especially after a challenging midweek fixture.
“It’s always nice to play here [Emirates]. The fans give us so much energy that is so important for us – it gives us a big boost,” remarked Havertz, underlining the significance of fan support in Arsenal’s performance.
With the win, Arsenal aims to maintain pressure on the league leaders, Liverpool and Manchester City, as they prepare for their upcoming fixture against Sheffield United on March 4th.
