House Committee on Niger Delta Development Commission has summoned the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio, to appear before it, TopNaija reports.

The committee issued the summons after the former acting Managing Director of NDDC, Dr Joi Nunieh, made a series of allegations against him, concerning his administration of the NDDC.

The investigation of the NDDC had got messier on Thursday as the police invaded the Port Harcourt residence of Nunieh.

It was alleged that the invasion was to prevent Nunieh from moving from Port Harcourt to Abuja to testify before the panel. Nunieh has since testified before the House of Representatives earlier today.

The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, who prevented the police from taking Nunieh away, had asked the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, to probe the invasion of the former NDDC boss.

Godswill Akpabio was under investigation by the EFCC on accusations that he diverted over 100 billion Naira from Akwa Ibom state during his time as governor between 2007 and 2015.
