Rangers lose Europa League final to Frankfurt
Rangers have lost their fifth European final to Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday night, May 18 after agonising penalty shootout.
Rangers’ lead was short-lived as Rafael Borre’s 69th minute goal put the German side back in the game to make it 1-1.
The extra time saw no goal at the Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium. Both teams left their fate to the penalty shootout to decide the winner.
Aaron Ramsey could not get the deciding kick past Kevin Trapp, as the Frankfurt goalkeeper claim hero of the night.
Frankfurt who are 11th-placed Bundesliga side after winning on penalties, have now won their second European trophy and a place in next season’s Champions League group stages.
