Properties lost as 3 storey building collapses in Port Harcourt
A three-story building was said to have collapsed in Rivers State Capital, Port Harcourt.
Daily Trust reports that the three-story building collapsed at the popular Bende street in old Port Harcourt township, Rivers State.
According to eyewitnesses, the building, which was constructed several decades ago, caved in at about 2.00 am on Wednesday.
Fortunately, with the degree of damages, no lives were said to have been lost as there was no occupant in the building.
“The building was one of the oldest building in Port Harcourt known as colonial building. I believe it’s one of the abandoned properties in Port Harcourt after the civil war. It caved in at about 2.00am Wednesday but no life was lost. There was no occupant in the building as of the time it collapsed” the witness said.
When contacted Rivers State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Iringe Grace Koko, said there was no occupant in the building before it collapsed.
