The Prelate of the Methodist Church in Nigeria, his Eminence, Samuel Kanu-Uche who was recently abducted by gunmen in Abia State has been confirmed to have been released.

The Prelate upon his release revealed the church had to pay a ransom of N100 million to ensure his release.

He revealed this on Tuesday in Lagos, with the cleric revealing that during his captivity he was assaulted very often by his captors.

The cleric also added that had the N100 million not being paid, the gang could have done as they threatened, and had him killed.

Reports reveal that the cleric had been kidnapped along the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway in the Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia State on Sunday along with his chaplain, Very Rev. Abidemi Shittu, and the Bishop of Owerri, Rt. Rev. Dennis Mark.
