Presidency reacts to Usman Ododo’s victory in Kogi Polls
In a commendatory gesture, the Presidency has extended congratulations to Usman Ododo, the governor-elect of Kogi State.
Usman Ododo, representing the All Progressives Congress (APC), emerged victorious in the gubernatorial race, triumphing over his opponents Muri Ajaka of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and Dino Melaye of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Returning Officer, Prof Johnson Urama, formally announced Ododo’s triumph on Sunday, declaring him the winner of the election. Urama stated,
“Ahmed Usman Ododo of APC, having satisfied the requirement of the law, is hereby declared the winner and returned elected.”
Ododo’s victory was underscored by a significant margin, with the APC candidate securing a total of 446,237 votes. This surpassed the tally of his nearest competitor, Murtala Ajaka of the SDP, who garnered 259,052 votes.
The President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, in a post on X, expressed felicitations, saying,
“Congrats to APC candidate Usman Ododo for winning the Kogi governorship election. He beats the closest rival, SDP Candidate Muri Ajaka by over 187,000 votes.”
