Popular Rapper, Sean Kingston and his mother arrested after raid at Florida Mansion
The rented Florida mansion that singer Sean Kingston lives in was searched by SWAT teams. The installation of a big TV led to the arrest of his mother, Janice Turner, on charges of fraud and theft.
TopNaija gathered that the raid happened on Thursday in a neighborhood of Fort Lauderdale that is popular with famous people and professional athletes, such as Dwayne Johnson and Tyreek Hill of the Miami Dolphins.
Turner was being held on the property, but Kingston, who is 34 years old, was out of town and not there during the raid. Items were taken from the house and put into a car by the police.
The sheriff’s office stated that an investigation was still going on, but they wouldn’t say what charges Turner was facing or if Kingston was also being sought.
Kingston, the Jamaican-American singer best known for his 2007 hit single “Beautiful Girls” and his work with Justin Bieber on songs like “Eenie Meenie,” was not at the scene of the raid, according to local media.
According to federal court records, Turned admitted to bank fraud in 2006 and spent almost a year and a half in jail for it. She had stolen more than $160,000 (£126,088).
In response to the raid, Kingston posted on Instagram, saying, “People love negative energy! I am good, and so is my mother!… My lawyers are handling everything as we speak.” The post was later removed.
Robert Rosenblatt, the lawyer representing Kingston and his mother, told the South Florida Sun Sentinel, “These are fine people, and I’d be surprised if the allegations were true.”
Florida Department of Corrections records indicate that Sean Kingston is currently on a two-year probation for trafficking stolen property, further complicating the situation.
