Chris Mba, a well-known Nigerian pop singer, has passed away due to heart disease.

Mba was signed to Premier Records and was popular during the 1980s for his unique jerry curl hairstyle and hit songs such as ‘Funky Situation,’ ‘Baby Don’t Cry,’ ‘Making my Way,’ and ‘Love Everlasting.’

His death was confirmed by his wife on social media.

Mba died on Wednesday night at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LUTH, where he was receiving treatment.

In August 2018, Mba performed at an evening of tributes organized by the Copyright Society of Nigeria in memory of the late Ras Kimono.

Mba was a member of the PMAN Caretaker Committee and COSON, and he had previously solicited funds for his health challenges some years back.

Unfortunately, the appeal did not raise much money.

Mba’s death is a loss to the Nigerian music industry, as he was a prominent figure in the 80s and had a significant impact on the music scene at that time.

His signature jerry curl and hit songs made him a fan favorite, and his contributions will always be remembered.

May his soul rest in peace.
