Popular BBC TV Show Cancelled After Fans Backlash
BBC’s jewellery crafting competition, All That Glitters, has closed due to a controversial finale that left viewers unhappy.
The six-week show, hosted by Katherine Ryan in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter, saw eight talented jewellers create jewellery to brief.
The first episode pulled in an impressive 2.6 million viewers, with the series averaging 2.3 million.
The finale saw Piers Carpenter, Emma White, and Jack Mitchell compete to be crowned the winner by creating a sapphire engagement ring and a statement necklace for a famous face.
Shirley Ballas, the head judge of Strictly Come Dancing, visited the jewellery makers to choose a favourite statement piece, but ultimately judges Dinny Hall and Shaun Leane made the final decision.
Despite Emma coming in first place in both challenges, Piers was crowned the winner, sparking outrage among fans of the show who took to social media to complain.
All That Glitters was praised for showcasing the skills and creativity of talented jewellers, but the controversy surrounding the finale may have contributed to the show’s cancellation. It remains to be seen whether the show will return in the future with a different format or production team.
