Mauricio Pochettino to block sale of Chelsea star

Chelsea Football Club is set to make a final decision on appointing former Paris Saint-Germain head coach, Mauricio Pochettino, as their next permanent manager this week. The announcement comes as transfer guru Fabrizio Romano confirmed that talks between the club and Pochettino are entering crucial stages, and the Argentine is the favourite to land the Stamford Bridge job ahead of Vincent Kompany.

According to Romano’s tweet on Monday morning, “Talks between Mauricio Pochettino and Chelsea will continue this week to enter into crucial stages. He’s the favourite to get the job since Thursday, Luis Enrique & Nagelsmann are out. This week, key to make final decision. Kompany appreciated — but Pochettino is ahead.”

Chelsea is reportedly keen on appointing a new permanent manager to take over from current caretaker manager Frank Lampard at the end of the season. Pochettino has been on the radar of several clubs since leaving Tottenham Hotspur in 2019, and his credentials have impressed Chelsea’s hierarchy, leading to speculation that he may be the one to lead the club forward.

Kompany, on the other hand, was also linked with the job, but Pochettino’s track record, experience and reputation as a top-class coach has given him the edge over the former Manchester City captain.

The Blues are looking to bounce back from a relatively disappointing season and challenge for major honours next season. They have already secured a place in next season’s Champions League and are looking to mount a serious title challenge with the right appointment.

If Pochettino eventually gets the job, he will be tasked with leading the club to glory while also navigating the challenges of the Premier League, which has become increasingly competitive in recent years.

Could this be Mauricio Pochettino’s chance at glory in the premier league?
