The 100k Club screens 400 women for free, saves 70 lives from cancer [PHOTOS]

Nigerian women who are between the ages of 15 and 65, bear the risk of developing cervical cancer. A yearly case of 12,075 women develop cervical cancer in Nigeria and about 7968 lose their lives to this disease.

Cervical Cancer is a preventable disease when caught early, however, it is unfortunate that about 3.5% of Nigerian women unknowingly harbor this disease. As a result of this, the 100k club took to the street to screen women for free and to save lives from cervical cancer.

Over 400 hundred Nigerian women benefitted from this free screening as the 100k Club hosted them to the lifesaving exercise over 3 days in Lagos, Nigeria. The exercise which took place between January 28th and 31st 2022, marked the commemoration of the International Cervical Cancer awareness month. It cut across three major landmarks in Lagos including Tejuosho Shopping Mall, Maryland, Shopping Mall, and LifePro Medicare.

Owing to the fact that Most women die simply due to late detection of cancer the exercise was orchestrated by Dr. Chinonso Egemba popularly called Aproko Doctor in collaboration With the 100k Club.

In a bid to create awareness of the dangers of this disease and encourage women to participate in the exercise, the Organization and Aproko DR. took to their respective Twitter handle to publicize the exercise.

This flagship event was a turning point in the lives of many women as 70 lives were saved from Cancer and over 400 Nigerian women enjoyed free Cervical Cancer Screening in Lagos state.
The free screening which was held for 3 days, 28th, 30th, and 31st January 2022 was initially aimed at screening 100 women. Fortunately, by the 2nd day, over 400 women were already screened and 66 treated for free.

 

Apkroko Dr. with excitement expressed fulfillment in his tweet that in just 2 days of the Cervical Cancer screening, 40 ladies were positive for dysplasia and all of them were treated for free with cryotherapy.

The 100k club which kick-started this life-saving exercise was founded by gifted and compassionate Nigerian Doctors Chinonso Egemba and Olawale Ogulana in 2020.

It is a nongovernmental organization focused on helping underinsured Nigerians living with life-threatening, rare, and chronic diseases to help them get the best medications and treatments they need by lifting the financial burden involved.

The Club delivers this mission by actively helping vulnerable Nigerians raise funds for medical expenses and emergencies.
