Over 20 MAPOLY students receive student loan — Rector

Students at Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY) in Abeokuta have begun receiving credit alerts for student loan, according to the institution’s Rector, Dr. Adeoye Odedeji.

The loans, disbursed through the Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), are aimed at covering school fees for qualified students.

Odedeji made the announcement on Friday during the inauguration of the newly-elected Students Union Government (SUG) members.

He revealed that despite the availability of the loan, only 81 students out of the 11,000 eligible students had applied, with 26 ultimately qualifying after screening.

The Rector expressed concern over the low number of applicants and urged more students to take advantage of the loan initiative, emphasizing that it could ease the financial stress of paying school fees.

He confirmed that the fees for the 26 qualified students had been paid, with further maintenance allowances to be credited directly to their bank accounts soon.

Odedeji reassured that the school management is committed to fostering a strong partnership with students for the betterment of the institution.

The new SUG President, Prosper Oladele, vowed to effectively represent the interests of the student body.
