Osun APC disowns Aregbesola for anti-party activities

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially disowned former Governor Rauf Aregbesola, citing various anti-party activities.

This announcement was made by the party’s Chairman, Tajudeen Lawal, following a stakeholders’ meeting at the state secretariat on Tuesday.

Lawal stated that Aregbesola, who also served as Minister of Interior, had engaged in actions detrimental to the party, including forming groups that oppose the party’s interests therefore Osun APC disowns Aregbesola.

He cautioned party members against registering with Aregbesola’s faction, as it is not recognized by the APC.

Supporting the chairman’s stance, APC State Secretary Kamoru Alao announced that the party’s electronic membership registration will commence after the inauguration of a committee by National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje.

This committee will be responsible for training local trainers.

“We are advising our loyal members not to register with Aregbesola’s group, Omoluabi, as it is not affiliated with the APC in Osun State. As far as we are concerned, Aregbesola is no longer a member of the APC. We have notified the national secretariat about the disruptions caused by Aregbesola three times, and we expect appropriate action,” Alao stated.

However, Abosede Oluwaseun, the Publicity Secretary of Omoluabi Progressives, dismissed the allegations against Aregbesola. Oluwaseun argued that the party’s structure was intact when Aregbesola handed over to his successor, but it has since deteriorated.

“They have twice attempted and failed to dismiss Aregbesola in his ward in Ilesa East Local Government Area. We remain focused on repositioning the APC to reclaim Osun State from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2026,” Oluwaseun countered.
