OpenAI denies Orion AI Model launch by December

OpenAI has denied reports claiming it plans to release a new AI model, codenamed “Orion,” by December 2024.

An OpenAI spokesperson told TechCrunch that the information was inaccurate but declined to provide further details in response to a report by The Verge, which suggested a phased rollout of the model to trusted partners before a broader release through ChatGPT,

The Verge reported that Microsoft engineers were expected to gain early access to the model, possibly as soon as November, though the final name for “Orion” remains uncertain.

Despite the denial, expectations are high for OpenAI’s next major AI model.

The company recently raised $6.6 billion in funding and achieved a valuation of $157 billion, with investors and tech industry watchers anticipating more advanced AI capabilities from the startup.
