Onnoghen suspended as Buhari appoints Tanko Mohammed as new CNJ

Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari has suspended Walter Onnoghen  as chief justice of Nigeria (CJN) with immediate effect.

According to the President’s Special Assistant on New Media, Mr Bashir Ahmad, President Muhammadu Buhari has also sworn in Ibrahim Tanko Mohammed, from Bauchi state, as the new CJN. Buhari said the suspension was based on the order of Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) on January 23, 2019.
