FRSC Corps marshal pledges to resolve number plate, driver license scarcity

The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohammed, announced that measures are being implemented to address the current scarcity of number plate and driver license issues across Nigeria.

During an inspection of FRSC strategic facilities in Wuse, Kado, and Gwagwalada in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Thursday, Mohammed emphasized the commitment of the Federal Government and President Bola Tinubu’s administration to enhancing Motor Vehicle Administration in the country.

He noted that the FRSC would soon convene with the Joint Task Force (JTF) and other partners to tackle the production and distribution challenges of FRSC products and services.

“Within the few days that I assumed office, I received series of complaints from the general public concerning the National Driver’s License (NDL) office,” Mohammed stated. “We are not unaware of their pains and suffering and that necessitated our on-spot assessment of the uniform license care facilities in FCT.”

He explained that the issues are both internal and external, with internal problems being administrative and external ones being technical and financial.

The FRSC has already set up administrative measures to alleviate public suffering and plans to collaborate with technical partners and supervisors to find comprehensive solutions.

Mohammed assured that the new administration would introduce initiatives to improve traffic management nationwide.

He also highlighted the corps’ focus on creating a better working environment and enhancing welfare packages to boost personnel productivity.

The Corps Marshal reiterated the FRSC’s commitment to national security and ensuring the safety of motorists. “We will play our role towards enhanced national security and do everything possible to support security agencies across the country,” he said.

“I want to assure the motoring public and the general public that we are committed to continue delivering quality service of all FRSC products.”

This inspection tour marked Mohammed’s first major assignment since assuming office.
