“Not different from the others” — Pochettino on Chelsea issues
A very forgettable season on all fronts for Chelsea this campaign has made it for the West-London side who currently sits 11th in the premier league table.
Ahead of their premier league clash versus fellow London side, Crystal Palace, the Chelsea boss, Mauricio Pochettino once more sat down with the press to address the issues facing the team individually and in general.
Following the 4-2 defeat a weekend ago to Wolves at Stamford Bridge, wife of Chelsea defender, Thiago Silva made a statement on social media that sparked a lot of reaction concerning the Brazilian’s continued loyalty to the club.
Reacting to the situation once again, Pochettino addressed what the current mood is within the squad.
“All the players are in the same position as him,” Pochettino stressed.
Playing coy on Silva’s future post the current campaign, Pochettino added;
“We always assess and then we take the decision. He is not different from the others. I don’t look at the passport or the age of the player.”
With the Blues still battling to maintain a consistent run of form, the Argentine highlighted the real issues facing Chelsea, which to Pochettino is a contrast to what everyone thinks.
“The problem at Chelsea is not that the players are so young. The problem is that the team is young,” he said.
The former Tottenham Hotspur boss also remarks on the challenge of having a team that consists of entirely new players in an entirely new team for a new season.
“With 16 or 17 players that have arrived new from the beginning of the season, you need time to build a team.”
