Northern CAN asks DSS to check Miyetti Allah for unguarded statement topnaija.ng

The Christian Association of Nigeria in the 19 northern states and Abuja has called on the Department of State Services and the police to check the Miyetti Allah Association who they claim are making unguarded utterances capable of causing crisis.

The northern CAN was reacting to a statement credited to the Fulani body that the country belonged to them and that they could cling on to political power forever.

The Christian body said the comment by Miyetti Allah was unacceptable, adding that Nigeria belongs to all.

CAN, Northern States Chapter Vice-Chairman, Rev. John Hayab, in a statement in Kaduna on Sunday said, “Our stance is that no well-meaning individual should use the name of an association or platform like Miyetti Allah to make such serious divisive statements.

“The truth is that Nigeria does not belong to any ethnic group, section or religion but to every one of us. Making such false claims as that of Miyetti Allah’s President only creates tension and fuels crisis.

“CAN, therefore, calls on the Federal Government through the DG, DSS and the IGP to have a session with the ethnic superiority champion to school him on the diversity of Nigeria and the need for restraint from such reckless statements.

“All well-meaning members of the Miyatti Allah group need to urgently disassociate themselves from the provocative statement linked to the group as proof that the speaker is not playing a script.”

But the National President of the Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore Socio-cultural Association, Alhaji Abdullahi Bello-Bodejo denied claiming that Nigeria belongs to the Fulani race.

Bello-Bodejo on Sunday in a statement, said the claim was a blatant lie, concocted by the enemies of the Fulani people of Nigeria.

The statement read in part, “I want to state clearly and unequivocally that the report is a blatant fabricated lie.

“No doubt I was asked to react on the formation of Amotekun and my response was that every ethnic group has the inalienable right to defend itself against any aggression, including the Fulbe.”

I love to read, write and TRAVEL!!! The media space is my canvas to paint the truths of our brands and the stories of our Nigerian culture. I love a good book any day because with them I can travel to spaces that are perfect in their frame.
