The relationship between celebrities and their fans can be a rollercoaster, especially when fans feel their favorite artiste has been wronged.
Recently, American singer Enisa found herself at the center of controversy on social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) after unfollowing Nigerian superstar Davido. The drama has sparked an intense reaction from Nigerian fans, many of whom are accusing her of “using and dumping” Davido.
Back in 2021, Enisa collaborated with Davido on the remix of her hit song “Love Cycle,” a move that introduced her to a massive Nigerian audience.

Social media influencers like Smallie and Dapsy played significant roles in helping Enisa connect with Nigerian fans, solidifying her presence in the Afrobeat scene. However, the tide seems to have turned, as her recent unfollowing of Davido on X has ignited a backlash.
Despite the uproar, it’s worth noting that Enisa still follows Davido on Instagram, but that hasn’t stopped the wave of criticism from fans who feel betrayed. Many fans have taken to X to express their displeasure, with some even going as far as unfollowing her in retaliation.
The fact that Enisa now only follows three people on X, none of whom are Nigerian, has fueled the sentiment that she no longer values her Nigerian fanbase.
One fan, @francaown, voiced their frustration by saying, “Make I go unfollow her. A whole my Idolo Davido.” Another, @udogera, added, “See eh, only Nigerians can fight Nigerians. If you are a foreigner and take on one of us, that’s when you will understand the verse ‘United we stand’.”
The situation has sparked a range of reactions, with some fans defending Enisa, while others criticize Nigerians for channeling their energy into what they see as a trivial matter. User @ojuola_toyin commented, “If Nigeria remember you, devil will be learning work,” highlighting the fierce loyalty and protectiveness that Nigerian fans have for their own.
While it’s unclear what prompted Enisa’s decision to unfollow Davido, one thing is certain: Nigerian fans do not take kindly to anyone they feel has disrespected their beloved artists.
