Nigeria collaborates with Interpol to arrest Binance director
Nigeria has intensified its efforts to locate Nadeem Anjarwalla, a Binance Director who escaped custody. The Nigerian government has enlisted Interpol’s support to find and capture the fugitive.
Anjarwalla, who is a British and Kenyan citizen and serves as Binance’s Africa regional manager, was detained by Nigerian authorities in connection with an ongoing investigation into the operations of the cryptocurrency exchange platform in the country.
However, he escaped from custody on Friday, March 22nd, 2024, prompting a widespread search.
Zakari Mijinyawa, Head of Strategic Communication for the Office of the National Security Adviser, revealed that collaborative efforts involving various security agencies, governmental bodies, and international partners are underway to swiftly locate and bring Anjarwalla to justice.
The case has garnered significant attention, given Nigeria’s broader investigation into alleged money laundering and terrorism financing activities involving Binance.
Anjarwalla’s escape has raised concerns about the integrity of legal proceedings and the need for prompt action to ensure accountability.
Authorities have detained those responsible for Anjarwalla’s custody and launched a thorough investigation into the circumstances of his escape.
Plans are also in motion to secure an international arrest warrant with Interpol’s assistance.
The Nigerian government has emphasized its commitment to pursuing justice in this case, highlighting the importance of cooperation with international law enforcement agencies to successfully apprehend the fugitive.
Further updates are anticipated as the search for Anjarwalla continues.
