Mourning as Police recover seven corpses in boat accident in Taraba
The Police Command in Taraba State, on Monday have recovered seven corpses from a recent boat-water incident that happened in the State.
In a statement released to the press, the Police Command, narrating the sad ordeal, stated that though they were able to recover those number of corpses, they do not, for a fact, know the number of passengers in the boat.
Residents of the state were in mourning on Saturday after the boat tragedy which happened in Mayoranewo village, Ardo-Kola local government council.
The boat, which set out from Mayoranewo Market in Ardo-Kola council, was claimed to be traveling to Karim-Lamido council when it crashed near Binnari village canal.
“Currently, seven corpses have been recovered,” the statement by the Taraba State Police Command said.
“On receipt of the information, Taraba State Police Command immediately deployed operatives of the Marine Police to the area in collaboration with the local divers and fishermen residing at the river bank.”
The Command said the search to rescue those alive, and recover the corpses of the drowned passengers, is still ongoing.
DAILY POST findings show that there were over fifty passengers on the boat that took off from the Mayoranewo market heading to different villages in Karim-Lamido local government council.
