"Mohbad got what he deserved" -- Pastor Tunde Bakare

Pastor Tunde Bakare, the General Overseer of the Citadel Global Community Church, has made comments about the late Nigerian singer MohBad, suggesting that the artist may have faced consequences for his actions during his lifetime.

During a sermon in Leicester, United Kingdom, Pastor Bakare discussed the theme of ‘Harvest’ and touched upon the life and choices made by the late singer MohBad, whose untimely death occurred at the age of 27.

He made these remarks, as reported by Daily Independent.

Pastor Bakare conveyed his observations, stating, “My wife and I listened to a tape last night on MohBad. How many of you know MohBad? The Nigerian artiste who died at 27? MohBad.”

He went on to emphasize that MohBad had associated with individuals of questionable character while he was alive, a factor that he believed had contributed to the singer’s premature demise.

“While he was drinking and smoking and associating with evil men, he did not know that the harvest would come so soon and that he would soon be cut down at the prime of youth,” the clergyman noted.

However, Pastor Bakare clarified that he was not placing blame on MohBad but rather sharing an observation. He also commented on the significance of the name “MohBad,” questioning whether it conveyed a positive image.

“There was a young man older than I am. He was a driver, and his nickname was Eshu (devil). Everywhere he went, people hailed him as Eshu, and he would acknowledge them.”

Pastor Bakare recounted an incident involving another individual whose nickname was “Eshu,” which means devil. This individual, who acknowledged the nickname, was involved in a fatal car accident that claimed lives. Upon being released from jail after the incident, he declared, “Mee Sheshu Mee Shushu” (I am not the devil).
