Mercedes-Benz unveils G-Class EQ Technology, intensifying EV market competition
Mercedes-Benz has officially introduced the electric version of its iconic luxury vehicle, the G-Class, equipped with EQ Technology.
This move is expected to intensify competition in the luxury electric vehicle market. Featuring a 116 kWh lithium-ion battery, the G 580 offers a range of up to 473 kilometres on a single charge, with a maximum total output of 432 kW and torque of 1,164 Nm.
The electric model retains the classic design cues of the traditional G-Class, including distinctive aesthetic elements. It also introduces new functionalities such as G-TURN and G-STEERING for enhanced manoeuvrability during off-road adventures.
The launch of Mercedes-Benz unveils G-Class EQ Technology signifies the company’s significant expansion into the EV segment, positioning the brand to compete more directly with established players like Tesla, Rivian, and Lucid Motors.
