May & Baker launches Bitter Leaf Capsule for 80th anniversary

As part of its 80th anniversary celebrations, May & Baker Nig. Plc. is set to launch a new herbal product, the Rofeda bitter leaf capsule. This product, developed from local research, will be commercialized at the company’s herbal plant in Ota.

The capsule utilizes the beneficial properties of bitter leaf, known for its health benefits, and reflects May & Baker’s commitment to integrating traditional medicine with modern healthcare.

Managing Director Mr. Patrick Ajah announced the launch at a press conference in Lagos, where he detailed the company’s ongoing efforts to promote healthcare in Nigeria.

The Rofeda capsule, developed by a Nigerian professor, is expected to enhance the company’s product lineup and contribute to healthier living.

In addition to this launch, May & Baker is celebrating its milestone by donating a borehole to the Egusi Ota community to improve access to safe drinking water, renovating charity homes, and organizing a “walk-for-life” event offering free medical screenings.

Mr. Obinna Emeribe, Head of Pharma Sales and Marketing, noted that May & Baker is working with research centers, including the National Institute for Pharmaceutical Research and Development (NIPRD), to commercialize treatments for sickle cell anemia. The company is also set to introduce several new products by the end of 2024, furthering its mission of advancing healthcare through innovation and research.
