“Mark my words, It will happen” — Guardiola on Kompany
Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola amidst criticisms on the reported move of ex-Manchester City captain, Vincent Kompany to Bayern Munich as manager, has backed his former star to succeed in the German league.
Following reports that the Belgian coach will be taking on the job at Bayern Munich, roughly months after relegating English side, Burnley to the Championship, Vincent Kompany has seen a lot of naysayers questioning the move to Munich.
However, Pep Guardiola stands firmly behind his former student, and even confidently predicts the ex-Man City captain will eventually take over the role of manager at the Etihad.
Though not yet confirmed, Pep Guardiola’s comment comes in response to the contract talks and moves between Bayern Munich and Kompany’s representatives.
“Vincent Kompany will become a future Man City manager, mark my words. Yeah, it will happen for sure. You will call me when this is going to happen.” the Spaniard asserts.
Guardiola goes on to express his high regard for Kompany, despite the Belgian’s recent relegation with Burnley.
“It doesn’t matter if he was relegated with Burnley. I have a high opinion about his work, as a person, his personality, knowledge of the game, how he handles the media… I’d be happy to see Kompany at Bayern,” he added.
