Man Hacks brother to death in Kwara

A tragedy incident leads Dogonruwa village in Kwara State following a scuffle between Umar Bello and brother Abdullahi Bello that saw to the death of Abdullahi in the encounter.

According to reports, Umar hacked his brother to death with sharp objects he found available to him at the moment of the fight.

The scuffle between the two Fulani siblings was said to have occurred in the early hours of Friday in a village in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State.

Babawale Zaid Afolabi, Spokesman for the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, the Kwara State Command, was on hand to confirm the incident in Ilorin the very day it happened, adding that the suspect, Umar Bello had been taken into custody.

The spokesman revealed in his statement the identity of the suspect to be a Fulani who had allegedly hacked his brother, Abdullahi Bello to death over a minor misunderstanding.

“In the early hours of Friday, 27/05/2022, our divisional office in Kaima received a distress call that two brothers were engaged in a deadly fight, using dangerous objects like rod and cutlass and that one of them had become unconscious due to loss of too much blood.

“We arrived at the scene of the incident promptly. But the victim died before he could reach the hospital,” Babawale revealed.

He added also that “the culprit was later picked up and handed over to the police , who subsequently arrived at the scene of the incident for further investigations and possible prosecution.”
