Liverpool won't wait anymore -- Fabrizio Romano

Despite things being on the dicey end for Premier League club, Liverpool, the Reds aren’t ready to wait any longer in making their final decision on who the next manager will be.

This comes courtesy of the Xabi Alonso debate that has speculations, reports and narratives surrounding the Spaniard being in pole position to replace outgoing boss, Jurgen Klopp.

After news came to light that the former Liverpool midfield maestro will be remaining at current club, FC Bayer Leverkusen, the Merseyside outfit are set to move on from hanging on to the hope of changing Alonso’s mind.

In a post on his social media handle, Journalist Fabrizio Romano stated;

“Liverpool won’t wait anymore for Xabi Alonso — as Ruben Amorim will be an option already discussed internally, not the only one.

“Bayern are prepared to wait until Xabi make official decision, but he’s expected to stay at Leverkusen until June 2025… with release clause.”

Romano’s report indicates that the premier league side are ready to consider the alternative, Ruben Amorim who the club’s internal hierarchy seem to favor as Klopp’s replacement.

With Alonso deciding to stay on at Leverkusen for at least an extra season, future suitors coming to poach the former Real Madrid star away from the Bundesliga side, will be forced to pay Leverkusen some compensation.

However, it is not stated to be the case should Xabi Alonso decide to leave Bayer Leverkusen this season.
