Lionel Messi with another magic for Miami

America at the mercy of Messi.

Lionel Messi comes through for Inter Miami again at the death as he propelled the MLS side into a second cup final following his move to America.

The Argentine delivered an exhilarating performance to force the game into a bout of extra time during the US Open Cup semi-finals, with two  assists to take the game out of their rivals, FC Cincinnati.

FC Cincinnati had raced into an early 2-0 lead in the game with goals from Luciano Acosta and Brandon Vazquez, leaving Inter Miami at the mercy of elimination from the competition.

However, thanks to Lionel Messi coming up with 2 assists, one through a set piece and the other via a cross into the box from a free kick that was headed in by Leonardo Campana, Miami were able to come into the game to push the tie to penalties.

Since his high-profile move to the United States, joining forces with the co-owned team led by Jorge Mas and David Beckham, the football maestro has showcased his enduring brilliance on American soil.

The Miami outfit has been riding on an unprecedented wave of success since Messi’s arrival in July, signing a two-and-a-half-year contract with the MLS side.

Since then, Miami has recorded a streak of seven consecutive victories, including clinching their inaugural trophy in the Leagues Cup thanks to Lionel Messi’s contributions.

Inter Miami were able to secure a win over FC Cincinnati on penalties, with Lionel Messi converting his spot kick to propel Miami into another cup final.
