The governors, who were divided over the tenure extension of Oyegun, had heated exchange the over one-hour meeting. A source told the press that the president had to reschedule the meeting, asking the governors to pick another date.

Abdulaziz Yari, governor of Zamfara state, had chosen April 9 but el-Rufai tackled him on the choice of the date.

Apart from Aminu Masari (Katsina) and Ibrahim Geidam (Yobe), Mohammed Abubakar (Bauchi), all other APC governors attended the meeting.

The Bauchi governor was represented by his deputy.
