"These things happen" -- Obama takes a shot at Donald Trump

Former United States president, Barrack Obama isn’t a man who stays on the sidelines for far too long, and following the Presidential debate between current U.S president, Joe Biden and on trial U.S ex-president, Donald Trump, the 44th U.S president takes to the stage to lay a shot or two at the Republican.

Weighing in on President Joe Biden’s recent debate against Donald Trump, Barrack Obama did not shy away from acknowledging Biden’s less-than-stellar performance against Trump.

The highly anticipated debate which took place on Thursday night, June 27, saw Biden stumbling over phrases and appearing to freeze at several points, much to widespread attention and concern.

In his reaction, Obama admitted Biden’s debate performance was “bad” but emphasized the broader stakes of the election. “Bad debate nights happen. Trust me, I know.” the 62-year-old posted on Twitter.

However, that did not stop Obama from advocating for Biden, stressing the choice voters face in the upcoming election.

“But this election is still a choice between someone who has fought for ordinary folks his entire life and someone who only cares about himself. Between someone who tells the truth; who knows right from wrong and will give it to the American people straight — and someone who lies through his teeth for his own benefit.” the 44th U.S president wrote.

Obama highlighted the importance of the election, stating,

“Last night didn’t change that, and it’s why so much is at stake in November.”

Former President Bill Clinton did not hide his disapproval for Donald Trump, offering his support for Biden instead, and praising his leadership and accomplishments. “I’ll leave the debate rating to the pundits,” Clinton added later Friday afternoon.

“Joe Biden has given us three years of solid leadership, steadying us after the pandemic, creating a record number of new jobs, making real progress solving the climate crisis, and launching a successful effort in reducing inflation, all while pulling us out of the quagmire Donald Trump left us in.”
