Lagos to strengthen creative industry, train 1000 youths
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Thursday, disclosed that his government is set to train 1000 talented youths across 57 Local Government Areas in the state.
Sanwo-Olu who announced this in a statement stated that his administration has commenced plans to strengthen its creative economy through endowing the youths.
The Governor declared that through joint initiatives, Lagos could develop to be the capital of the creative sector in Africa.
He said, “We plan to strengthen our creative economy and make it the capital of the sector in Africa through carefully thought-out collaborative initiatives.”
“The Lagos Creative Industry Initiative in partnership with Del York Creative Academy will train 1000 talented youth across 57 LCDAs in different aspects of the creative business.”
As indicated by Sanwo-Olu, the collaboration would assist to enhance the manpower available in the creative industry.
He stated, “This collaboration will increase the stock of quality manpower for the industry.
“I charged the beneficiaries to take cognizance of their role & importance in the evolving Lagos story and pledged our support for the program.”
The creative industries refer to a range of economic activities which are concerned with the generation or exploitation of knowledge and information.
It consists of script writing, directing, cinematography, filmmaking, fashion and style, information technology, dance, advertising, gaming, among others.
The creative industries have been seen to become gradually vital to economic well-being. The industries of the twenty-first century will depend progressively on the generation of knowledge through creativity and innovation.
