Kano monarch shot dead

Tragedy struck the village of Maigari in Rimin Gado Local Government Area of Kano State as the head of the village, Dahiru Abba, was shot dead in the early hours of the morning.

The incident was confirmed by his son, Barrister Munir Dahiru Maigari, who is the Chairman of Rimin Gado Local Government. According to him, the gunmen broke into the monarch’s residence and assaulted him before opening fire, leading to his death.

The police were not immediately aware of the incident, but the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, has promised to investigate the matter and provide an update.

At present, the cause of the attack remains unknown, and the family and community are mourning the loss of the traditional ruler.

Kano State, located in the northwestern region of Nigeria, has seen relatively low levels of insecurity in recent times. However, the incident has highlighted the need for increased vigilance and security measures to prevent such attacks from happening again.

The burial ceremony of the late Dahiru Abba is set to take place on Sunday morning at his residence in Maigari village. The community is expected to come together to pay their final respects to the traditional ruler and pray for the repose of his soul.
