Kano govt postpones school resumption date indefinitely

The government of Kano State has said that primary and post-primary school resumption for the 2024–2025 school year will not happen until a later date.

The government said this was necessary for “urgent reasons,” but they didn’t give any more details.

Balarabe Kiru, who is in charge of public education at the Kano State Ministry of Education, said in a statement released on Saturday that the delay would happen.

He added that the Commissioner for Education, Umar Doguwa, will soon give a new restart date.

Kiru stated, “I wish to inform pupils, students, and parents that the previously scheduled resumption dates of September 8 and 9, 2024, have been postponed.

“This decision is based on urgent reasons aimed at enhancing the learning environment for our children. A new date for resumption will be communicated in due course.”
