The Kano state police command seems to have joined forces with other security agencies to uncover a scheme by some individuals planning to wage an attack on the State House of Assembly and other strategic places within the state.

TopNaija gathered that the joint security heads led by Mohammed Usaini Gumel, the Commissioner of Police, revealed this at a press conference in Kano on Sunday, May 26.

According to Gumel, the places targeted for the planned attacks include the state assembly complex, Kano House of Assembly, the Majority Leader, house of the member representing Gwale constituency and other places, Daily Nigerian reported.

Giving a firm assurance, he stated that the security agencies will put in their all to see that anybody found to be causing a crisis in the state will be ruthlessly dealt with.

The CP said:

“The issue of chieftaincy affairs has been perfected by the executive arm of government. We are standing by the law and we are strictly going to enforce the existing law.”

Speaking further, he noted that different cluster groups have been mobilised and being paid N150,000 to launch the attack starting from Sunday.

TopNaija understands that people in the old city of Kano are upset because Muhammadu Sanusi II was reappointed as Emir of Kano exactly 1,545 days after being removed from the throne. However, the Emir who was removed, Alhaji Ado Bayero, has refused to accept his fate.

Before, it was stated that the Nigerian Army said that, despite what the Kano state chapter of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) said, its men has not been involved in the fight over the Kano state emirate.

The army spokesman, Major-General Onyema Nwachukwu, said late on Sunday, May 26, that the security service was not involved in carrying out any court order.

Nwachukwu said:

“They have only taken proactive steps to checkmate any possible breakdown or breach of the security that may be occasioned by the Kano Emirship tussle.”
